Day Six

Image
Wednesday October 4th, At the beginning of class we went over ethics of a good engineer. The class went over scenarios where engineers were questioned of there high standard and we answered if we thought they were being ethical or not. We also cited what part of there decision was unethical. We also got to exercise our skills with excel. We created list and learned how to use functions. We learned how to create charts using those list and how to use them correctly. Last we went over what would be on the midterm.

Day Five

Wednesday 27th In class today we went over what good citing looks like. We went over a couple of bad citing's and acknowledged what the students were doing wrong. It is good to specifically name your source and instead of looking for a different way to say what the author said maybe try and interpret what the author is trying to say. That way you can specifically describe and understand the text from which you are reading the information from. Example: The student just used different words rather then trying to interpret what the author was saying. I chose "D. None of the above" because it thought he could have worded it or analyzed it a little better.  We logged onto a spread sheet and learned how to use it for calculations when making charts. This way we can keep track of data and make an accurate analysis easier. The excel will be vital when studying engineering. The link below is where I wrote down my spread sheet data. https://docs.google.com/spreadshee...

Day Four

We finally put the project into action! The professor walked us over to the makers space where we created our marker holder. I used a sharpie to note down any cuts I was going to make into my fabrication. Then I used a hand saw to slice off a piece for my project. I sanded down the piece of metal until it was a good shape and not too rigid. I began to punch holes in it and then used a drill to make a good size hole for my piece. If the edges weren't right I just used a sander to make them more rounded and safe to use. BEFORE: AFTER:

Day Three

Image
On day three we made personal schedules so we can see how exactly we are budgeting our time and assuring we are creating a healthy environment that an engineer needs to progress. We also went over the project so we were clear of what we needed to do. The professor guided us on making plans we created to assure we are taking the correct classes for the following years to come. I know my schedule is full now but in the future this may help me build a better environment and obtain my goal of becoming a computer engineer.

Day Two

Image
In class we reviewed what it takes to make a good engineer student. My group acquired the job of finding why getting help in school is so important. We figured out that getting help is good so you can create a balanced healthy environment for your education. If you find people to push you you will create a well built system at home,  We also went over Orthographic views and how they will help map out whatever it is we are trying to make. By creating this blue print, we can see what problems we may face and note things we may not want to forget when building. Last we discussed our first project which is to create a metal marker holder that is magnetic and looks exactly like the pictures above. They must  be exactly like the one we displayed in class.

Day One

Group assignment: The first day of class we discussed the different types of Engineering and the fundamentals of what each area studies. We then created a modern idea that could possibly be updated and came up with ideas on how we could fix the problem. My group came up with an idea of a battery that would last longer in a phone. We then researched it with another group and came up with real life experiments and materials as if we were really making this. The new idea had to be affordable and realistic. We then had to conjure up who would use the phone. This idea for a phone with ever lasting battery life was engineered by my group as if we were actually making it and were about to put it into play. This assignment gave us an idea of what it is like to be a real life engineer!
